Brianna Lipovsky

Brianna Lipovsky is the Founder of Maison d’Etto, a modern luxury fragrance brand inspired by art, architecture, design and the modern equestrian lifestyle.

Intrigued by scent and horses at a young age, those two things remained constant and powerful forces in her life. Her first memory is that of fresh cut grass, but not any fresh cut grass, the smell of recently watered, late afternoon grass, gasoline and metal from riding around on massive golf course mower sitting on her fathers lap. I remember loving running through the sprinklers and riding around on the grounds equipment with my dad who was a horticultural engineer and tended to creating just the right spring in the greens. But as soon as she came in contact with her neighbors horses at the age of 5 that was it. Normal life ceased and it became all about the horses. And thus her formative, olfactive years were spent mostly in the stables, working, riding, caring and training horses. So many of my olfactive memories and experiences are informed by my being in nature, around grass, dirt and the horses. Its really my only language for communication because its all I know. (Our sense of smell develops between the ages of 0-10…)

Now having worked with some of the best brands in the world she decided to create her own by merging her two great loves; olfactive storytelling  (aka, scent) and horses combined with her deep passion for architecture and design. I wanted to make it something that could resonate with everyone. And the individual horses became a wonderful form of inspiration for me, the perfumers and brand team. The horses really serve as a metaphor and are applicable to all aspects of life.

Brianna is also a competitive equestrian who is climbing her way up to the Grand Prix level of Dressage. She feels that Dressage is living, breathing art. She lives in New York City with her husband and daughter Zoe who have both been instrumental with Maison d’Etto.
